Manchester United could be ready to join the race for Real Madrid midfielder and Arsenal target Sami Khedira, according to Fichajes.net.
The 27-year-old has been the subject of much transfer speculation this summer after seemingly refusing to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu, and it could be that he will be available on the cheap due to his current deal expiring next year.
Arsenal have been among his main suitors, with Chelsea also said to be monitoring his situation, though it is now claimed that Louis van Gaal wants to bring the player to Old Trafford.
United have been in the market for new signings in midfield in this transfer window, bringing in Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao but missing out on big names such as Toni Kroos and Arturo Vidal, and Khedira could now be the club’s main focus.
The German international, a World Cup winner with Joachim Low’s side this summer, has possibly put off Arsenal with his high wage demands, though it seems United are ready to pay him the £150,000 per week he wants.
This signing would certainly give United the much-needed strengthening in midfield that they have needed for some time and put them in good shape to get back into the top four next season.
