It had seemed as though Liverpool were set to secure their second centre forward signing of the summer, with Loic Remy seemingly set to follow Rickie Lambert through the door at Anfield after a move was agreed to bring the French international to the club from Queens Park Rangers.

Reports have emerged today, however, that suggest that Brendan Rodgers’ move for the man who was so impressive at Newcastle United last season has been called off after he failed a medical.

With the Reds still requiring at least one forward player to help them ease the burden on the players left behind by the departure of Luis Suarez, it seems clear that Rodgers will be back in the market soon. These five players are all forwards that he could bring to Anfield.

Wilfried Bony (Swansea City)

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Swansea City centre forward Wilfried Bony this summer, but they are likely to face stiff competition from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur for the Ivory Coast international.

Bony is also likely to cost a significant fee, perhaps in the region of £20 million, although his performances at the Liberty Stadium last season indicated that he is a player capable of succeeding at a top Premier League club.
