The Old Trafford side have been linked with a growing interest in the Uruguayan forward for some weeks and this source claims that Cavani’s Parc des Princes employers are looking to sell the former Napoli man in order to balance the books as they seek to sign Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria.
Such speculation would appear to ring true.
Cavani is said to be unhappy about having to play second fiddle to Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic and is not keen with his wide-attacking role, this seemingly would therefore perhaps see Laurent Blanc keen to kill two birds with one stone.
The sale of Cavani would leave the club needing to bring in a wide-attacker, such as Di Maria, and the sale of the powerful forward would also help the Ligue 1 side to adhere to UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines.
Cavani netted 25 goals in his debut season in the French capital, and scored 104 goals in three seasons in Naples, and has the physical presence to make an impact in the Premier League though it’s not immediately clear how he would fit into a Man United eleven that would also need to include Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney.
