United have been tracking Di Maria for most of the summer but looked set to miss out on him this week, with PSG agreeing terms with Real Madrid for his signature.

However, reports in Spain are now suggesting that United are ready to match the French side’s offer and will use Saturday night’s friendly against Real Madrid in order to try and push through a deal.

The Argentine star’s agent is currently in Paris putting finishing touches on the move, as the player already has agreed terms and been given a shirt number, but United aren’t ready to give up just yet.

United do have a lifeline in the deal, though, as it is thought that Madrid would prefer to sell to the Red Devils as they would be able to pay the full cash sum up front, whereas PSG would sign him on loan before completing a permanent deal next summer.

All parties are keen for a speedy resolution and the player’s future will become clearer after Saturday’s friendly.
