Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining up a surprise bid for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger according to the Daily Star.

Agger saw his first team chances limited last term by the arrival of Mamadou Sakho and Brendan Rodgers decision to sign Dejan Lovren from Southampton earlier this summer is likely to lead to the Danish international considering his options and a move to the Emirates Stadium may well appeal to the experienced Anfield star.
The 29 year old can play either as a centre-back or as a left-back and is rated at around £12m and could be seen by Wenger as an ideal replacement for current back-up Thomas Vermaelen.
On the possibility of a Liverpool exit Agger is quoted as stating;
“It is no secret that I had problems last season and I am considering things,”
“How things turned out last season is not sustainable for me. I am here now and it is up to me to show the coach that I should play.”
Agger has struggled with fitness in recent seasons but when fully fit is still a very capable performer and perhaps given Liverpool’s summer spending spree the Merseyside outfit may well even consider a lower fee for the former Brondby man.
Liverpool signed Agger in January 2006 and he has gone on to make 232 appearances for the club.
