Liverpool look to be on the verge of finally securing a deal for Alberto Moreno, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Reds have agreed a fee with Sevilla of around £16 million for the player’s services.

Moreno, who impressed for Sevilla last season as they won the Europa League, is likely to arrive as Brendan Rodgers’ long term left back solution, having used youngster Jon Flanagan out of position during the last campaign – the academy graduate is now likely switch to his natural right hand side.

Liverpool have been chasing a deal for Moreno all summer, but it appeared to collapse when Sevilla refused to budget from their £20m asking price – a fee that put off Anfield chiefs.

With their transfer kitty swelled by the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, however, Liverpool have returned – and this time secured a £16m deal for the player, who will now discuss personal terms and take a medical at Melwood.

He is likely to be the second Spanish full back who Liverpool sign this week, with Atletico Madrid right back Javier Manquillo seemingly also set to join, on a two-year loan deal.

The deal may spell the end for Jose Enrique’s time at Anfield, with the former Newcastle United man now likely to drop even further down the pecking order.
