The Parc des Princes side are apparently close to securing a £60m deal for the 26 year old Bernabeu star but Man United have not given up on their pursuit of the former Benfica man.

In an attempt to lure the Bernabeu star Man United will increase their original contract offer from £90k a week to £120k, an offer that may concern a PSG side who are already treading a fine line with regards to adhering to UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc is looking to resolve that issue by attempting to find buyers for South American trio Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Pastore or Edinson Cavani, though no official offer has been made for any of the talented attackers.

Van Gaal appears desperate to land a fresh wide-attacking option which is perhaps unsurprising given the average displays put in by Ashley Young, Nani and Luis Antonio Valencia last season.

Di Maria finished last season as Real Madrid’s leading assist maker.
