Arsenal Star Says New £35m Teammate Alexis Sanchez Is An ‘Animal’

Gibbs believes the Chilean is set for great things in England.

Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs has revealed that new £35m teammate Alexis Sanchez is an animal and has the capability to score 20 goals in the next season.

With Sanchez generally operating from the right flank it is Gibbs’ responsibility to come up against the Chile international in training and has admitted how difficult that is.

“When you face Alexis in training, you know it’s not going to be the best day you have as a defender,” the 24-year-old was quoted by the London Evening Standard.

“He has been like an animal in training. He’s everywhere. He just doesn’t stop running.

“Is he the 20-goal-a-season striker every team needs? Yes.”

Sanchez joined the Gunners from FC Barcelona this summer and became their second most expensive signing ever behind £42.4m Mesut Ozil, who arrived from Real Madrid in 2013.

On Sunday the 25-year-old had his first opportunity to play in a competitive match for the North Londoners as the South American was in the starting XI to face Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Although Sanchez wasn’t on the score-sheet he played a key part in the 3-0 rout of the reigning Premier League champions and Arsene Wenger’s men look strong heading into the 2014/15 campaign.
