Liverpool are confident of finally signing Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony with a new bid set to be lodged in the coming days.

The Reds have already seen a £12.5million offer rejected by the Swans, but Brendan Rodgers is not giving up and is planning a new move.

According to the Daily Express, a new bid of about £16million is set to be lodged and Rodgers believes it will be enough to sign the Ivory Coast international.

Bony is said to be keen on a move to Liverpool this summer, but his wage demands could threaten to hold the switch up, leavening just two short weeks to negotiate a deal that suits all parties.

The 25-year-old scored 17 goals in 34 games last season and has been tipped to become the successor to Luis Suarez.
