Juventus may be about to switch their focus to the signing of Bayern Munich winger and Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri as a move for Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski looks in some doubt.
According to Tuttosport, Juve only want to take the German international on loan for the season, while the Gunners are keen to take the opportunity to sell him if possible. This could then spark interest from other clubs such as Galatasaray before the transfer window closes next week.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato.it claims that the Italian giants will switch their focus to Swiss international Shaqiri as an alternative to Podolski, with the former Liverpool target supposedly unhappy with his current status in the Bayern first-team.
Once regarded as one of the most promising young players in Europe, Shaqiri has struggled to break past the vast competition for places in Pep Guardiola’s squad and has been linked with a number of top clubs in recent months as a result.
A proposed switch to Anfield never worked out, with Brendan Rodgers instead bringing in the likes of Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic in the attacking midfield areas, and Turin could now be his destination as new manager Massimiliano Allegri looks to bolster his squad for the new season.
