After weeks of speculation di Maria became the British transfer record holder after completing his move to Old Trafford from Madrid.
Yet the Argentina international has admitted he did not want to leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and was forced out.
“Sadly, now I have to go, but I want to make it clear that this was never my wish. Many things were said and many lies circulated,” the 26-year-old was quoted by ESPN.
