Could the Blues hijack a deal for brilliant Colombian forward…?
In news that will undoubtedly excite Chelsea fans, and irritate those of rivals Arsenal, the Blues are now being linked to world-class striker Radamel Falcao…
Because of the hamstring injury picked up by £32m summer signing Diego Costa, Chelsea could agree to pay the £20m loan fee required to bring Falcao to Stamford Bridge from Monaco for the season, reports the Guardian.
Costa has started brilliantly at Stamford Bridge, scoring a goal in each of Chelsea’s opening two matches, but his injury, combined with the fact Fernando Torres seems set to move to AC Milan, means that the Blues could be short in terms of striking options with only three days remaining of the transfer window.
While Chelsea have been more readily linked with a £20m bid for Roma’s Italian forward Mattia Destro, a potentially huge loan deal for Falcao is now being mooted.
Both Real Madrid and Arsenal have also been linked to the 28-year-old superstar, but Chelsea’s manager Jose Mourinho shares agent Jorge Mendes with the forward, which could help potential negotiations.
A move for Falcao would cap off an incredibly successful transfer window for the Blues.
