City currently have no shortage of strikers with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo on their books, but seemingly keen to ensure last season’s title flop doesn’t repeat itself manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen to add another star name in order to maintain their challenge for longer this time around.
However, the deal, should it go ahead, would likely free up Negredo to join Valencia on a season long loan even though he is currently sidelined with an injury.
The Spaniard started last season off well, bagging 23 goals in 48 games across all competitions, but injury and a loss of form kept him out of the side as the campaign wound down to its conclusion.
Falcao’s future has been the subject of much speculation this summer with Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea all reportedly keen on prizing him away from the Stade Louis II.
The Gunners had originally been favourites to land his signature, but City’s spending power would surely be too great for Arsene Wenger and a deal could be struck before the weekend is over.
