The French Under 21 interntional is into the last year of his Parc des Princes contract and the Ligue 1 side have no intention of allowing the 19 year old to leave on a free transfer, a point reiterated by manager Laurent Blanc;

“If we sell Rabiot, it will be in January,” Blanc said.

“But there will have to be an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain. Our code of conduct preludes a free transfer.”

AS Roma are also keen on Rabiot but given Arsene Wenger’s reputation for making the most of top young talents one imagines a move to the Emirates Stadium could well tempt the rangy midfielder.

Rabiot made 27 appearances in all competitions and did appear to have a fairly prominent role in Blanc’s plans but seemingly the youngster wants even more regular action and is therefore reticent about signing a new PSG deal.

Arsenal could do with a strong midfield option, especially a youthful addition in this regard, given that both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are the ‘wrong side’ of 30.
