Former Sevilla skipper Fazio starts in central defence alongside Jan Vertonghen, while goalkeeper Hugo Lloris captains Tottenham in the absence of Younes Kaboul, who is being rested.
Lloris is the only player to keep his place in Pochettino’s starting XI following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Sunderland.
Danny Rose, Mouse Dembele, Emmanuel Adebayor and Nacer Chadli have also been left in London to ensure that they are fresh for this weekend’s Premier League game with West Bromwich Albion.
Benjamin Stambouli makes his first start for Spurs, playing in central midfield, alongside Nabil Bentaleb.
Harry Kane will lead Tottenham’s attack, with support from Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and Paulinho.
Roberto Soldado, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier are among Tottenham’s substitutes on what is a very strong bench.
