Anfield side chase Bernabeu star.
Liverpool are to reignite their interest in Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in January according to the Daily Star.
Brendan Rodgers had been linked with a move for the 26 year old over the summer, following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, and despite having brought in Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli it appears the Anfield side are still interested in the French forward.
Liverpool had been ready to stump up £40m for the former Lyon man and it would certainly take a massive bid to land Benzema, the Bernabeu man having recently signed a new five year contract with the Spanish giants, with the striker said to be unhappy at the club.
Carlo Ancelotti recently adopted a three man attacking line-up of James Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale for Real Madrid’s thumping 5-1 win over Elche and given that Benzema didn’t net during the club’s 8-2 mauling of Deportivo La Coruna there is a chance he will be playing a more limited role this term having been a virtual ever present last season.
