Gunners boss determined to land Bundesliga star.Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly dead set on signing Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus ahead of the competition, according to Fichajes.net.
The Gunners have long been linked with a move for the classy German international, who has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe in recent times.
Other big names such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are also thought to be chasing the talented 25-year-old, but Wenger remains hopeful of bringing him to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
Although Arsenal are arguably more in need of signings in defence or defensive midfield, there’s no doubt that Reus would be an excellent acquisition for the club to follow up the big-name purchases of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck this summer.
It may well be that Wenger’s desire to sign Reus so strongly is down to the rumoured interest in Mesut Ozil from Bayern Munich, which would free up a role just behind the main striker in his starting lineup.
Reus would probably be an upgrade on the under-performing Ozil, and it now just remains to be seen how other clubs will compete in the running to sign this world class performer.
