St James’ Park side name their price for Emirates Stadium target Chieck Tiote.
Newcastle United are willing to sell want-away midfielder Chieck Tiote to Arsenal but only for the right price according to the Daily Star.
The 28 year old defensive midfielder has stated his intention to leave St James’ Park and has highlighted Arsenal as a possible destination for his services and as such the Magpies probably feel they have little option than to cash-in on the Ivory Coast international.
Newcastle United paid FC Twente £3.5m for Tiote in 2010 but will now demand £15m for the tough tackler, who is one of the club’s highest earners having signed a lucrative six and a half year deal way back in 2011.
Arsene Wenger could well do with an out and out defensive midfielder who could offer some real steel to his Arsenal side, whilst also offering protection for the club’s more creative talents.
The likes of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini offer holding and defensive midfield options though Tiote is perhaps a more suitable player for such a role.
