Reds target Espanyol keeper as alternative to Valdes.
Liverpool are reportedly lining up a move for Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla as a move for former Barcelona stopper Victor Valdes nears collapse, the Metro reports.
The Reds are desperate to land another quality goalie to rival first-choice Simon Mignolet, and had looked destined to bag ex-Barcelona man Valdes.
Reports over the weekend have claimed that the club’s latest efforts to sign Valdes are set to fall by the wayside and now sources in Spain are claiming that Brendan Rodgers will instead turn his attentions to Casilla instead.
The 28-year-old has been one of the stairs of La Liga in the last 12 months and has been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid.
Espanyol are said to be wanting around £8m for his services, and Anfield scouts are said to be sufficiently impressed enough to urge the management to push through a deal quickly in order to fend off any rival interest in his signature.
