Emirates Stadium side want Napoli ace.
Arsenal have begun talks with Napoli over their move for striker Gonzalo Higuain according to the Metro.
The 26 year old Argentine has been linked with interest from the north London side for some months and Arsene Wenger remains keen despite having forked out over £50m to bring in Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck over the summer.
Liverpool are also apparently keen on the former Real Madrid man and their need is perhaps more keenly felt given that neither Mario Balotelli or Rickie Lambert have registered a Premier League goal this season and Daniel Sturridge has been sidelined for much of the season.
Higuain is a proven finisher and Napoli may feel the need to cash-in on a player having failed to negotiate a path through the Champions League qualifiers into the group stages.
The French born forward has racked up 20 goals in 40 Serie A starts and netted 107 goals in 190 La Liga appearances during his spell at the Bernabeu.
