White Hart Lane side chase Swiss international.
Tottenham are preparing a big money move for criminally underused Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri according to the Metro.
The 23 year old Swiss international, who bagged a hat-trick at this summer’s World Cup finals, is a bit-part player at the Allianz Arena and is pushing for a January exit after seeing a move to Liverpool collapse during the last transfer window.
Spurs will offer £19.6m for Shaqiri and that may just tempt Bayern Munich into selling a player who doesn’t seem key to Pep Guardiola’s plans.
The former FC Basel man is into his third season at the Bavarian giants and his first team chances have steadily reduced over time and have left Shaqiri making just three of the club’s 11 Bundesliga fixtures this season.
With the likes of Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela all failing to prove themselves on a consistent basis one can see why Mauricio Pochettino would target Shaqiri and it’s a move that the north London side may just pull off in January.
Prior to his move to Germany Shaqiri was considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and is in danger of stagnating at Bayern Munich and a move may be best for all parties.
