The Colombian international, 28, has been in absolutely superb form for the Portuguese giants since he joined the club two years ago, scoring 72 goals in 107 appearances for the club in total.

Martinez’s fine form has seen him attract interest from a number of top clubs before, with Arsenal and Liverpool known to be among his main admirers as the January transfer window approaches.

Porto will certainly struggle to keep their star player if he continues to find the back of the net at this terrific rate, with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino seemingly now making him his top target to come in and improve his side’s options upfront.

Spurs have had an up-and-down start to the season so far, with attack clearly a problem for the club as the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado look horribly off form at White Hart Lane.

Martinez could prove an upgrade on these two players, though it remains to be seen if Tottenham can beat off their rivals for his highly coveted signature this January.
