(Tweet) Tigres Captain Juninho Injured For Eight Months

He ripped his ankle ligaments whilst training on a boggy pitch in Monterrey in the build up to Thursday’s Liga MX semi-final against Toluca.

It means he will probably miss the entirety of the 2015 Clausura championship, as well as Tigres’ upcoming Copa Libertadores campaign.

30 year old Jose Rivas will take his place in the starting eleven, and could even start the game as captain. He has been at the club for his entire career, joining the side as a youth player and making his debut in 2004. Other possible captains include Juninho’s fellow regular partner at centre back Hugo Ayala, Argentine winger Damian Alvarez and Uruguayan midfielder enforcer Egidio Arevalo.
