Toffees fearful of Arsenal raid this January.
Everton are said to be increasingly wary of transfer interest in key midfield duo Ross Barkley and James McCarthy this January, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur mentioned as suitors for the latter.
According to the Daily Mail, Roberto Martinez is looking at new options to come in in midfield this winter, with Legia Warsaw midfielder Ondrej Duda thought to be one of the club’s top priorities.
Although Everton are not planning to let any of their best players go, they are aware of the strong interest in Barkley and McCarthy, both of whom have been highly impressive in the Premier League in recent times.
Barkley, 20, has been linked with a whole host of top clubs in recent times, while McCarthy seems to be one of Arsenal’s top transfer targets for this season as Arsene Wenger eyes a much-needed new signing in midfield.
It remains to be seen if this will lead to any player sales, but the Toffees do seem to be preparing for the possibility by targeting Duda.
