Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen on the young Argentine striker, but is yet to make any official contact with current club Palermo.
The Gunners’ need for a centre-back and a defensive midfielder have taken top priority recently, so the Frenchman has put the 21-year-old on the back burner for a while.
He may now find his hand forced however, with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund registering an interest in the forward.
Reports in Germany even go so far as to suggest that Dortmund’s representatives have already met with the Serie A side regarding a possible January transfer.
With the prolific young striker valued at around £25m, neither team are likely to jump headlong into any deal. Arsenal may have to step up their plans to bring him to the Emirates this winter however, with Wenger unlikely to want to lose out to Dortmund.
