Emirates Stadium side set to fork out massive sum for Chilean, though the money still seems very well spent.
There is no denying that Alexis Sanchez can already be considered as one of Arsene Wenger’s best ever Arsenal signings and that’s just a matter of months into his Gunners career, such has been his immediate impact on north London.
However the move to sign the Barcelona man did not come cheap.
Arsenal paid Barcelona £35m for the 25 year old Chilean, a price that saw the Nou Camp side bank £10m more than the fee they paid Udinese for the South American three years previously.
Sanchez was duly haned a hefty £150k a week salary, second only to club record signing Mesut Ozil, but a sizable increase on the salary Alexis had earned at Barcelona.
The forward has shown great tenacity and no lack of determination to succeed since moving to the English top tier and that level of heart and passion have swiftly made him a fan favourite. Clearly his goal return has also helped to win over the Gunners fans.
Sanchez has already bagged 14 goals in 23 appearances and is well on the way to better his career best high of 21 goals, which he reached last term, and is by some distance Arsenal’s most consistent performer in 2014/15.
The total cost of Sanchez’s move to Arsenal could run to as much as £113m according to Goal.com
