Johnson will certainly sit out of the game against Arsenal this weekend after limping out midway through the first half in the defeat to Manchester United.
Johnson received treatment on the pitch but had to be replaced by Kolo Toure.
“Glen was a groin injury – he’s over-stretched his groin,” manager Brendan Rodgers said.
It is the second injury setback that Johnson has endured this season after missing the first months of the campaign with a knee ligament injury.
The Reds will travel to Burnley on Boxing Day before hosting Swansea three days later. They will then follow that up with a meeting with basement boys Leicester City on New Year’s Day.
