Bayern Munich player Xherdan Shaqiri is going to turn down the chance of a move to Liverpool in order to stay in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, according to the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old has only made three starts for the German team this season and looks set to leave the club in January. He nearly left in the summer, but was persuaded to stay by manager Pep Guardiola. He has since been disappointed with the amount of time on the pitch that he has been getting and wants out again.

The Reds are interested in signing the Swiss international, but he now looks like he will be staying in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. Bayern’s league rivals are currently looking set for Champions League football next season, and this could be a factor with the Merseyside club struggling to get in the top ten let alone the top four so far.

This would be another blow for Brendan Rodgers, whose job is already under pressure because of the terrible start to the season they have been enduring.
