Old Trafford side target Bernabeu star to fix defensive deficiencies.
Man United are readying a contract offer to unsettled Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos according to the Metro.
Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal will not have been all that impressed with the efforts of his current central defensive options and could well favour a bold move for 28 year old Bernabeu star Ramos.
The Premier League side will offer Ramos £105k a week post tax with Real Madrid having recently made a new contract offer to the former Sevilla man which is yet to be penned.
Chelsea are also said to be keen on Ramos but Man United are leading the Stamford Bridge side though Carlo Ancelotti will surely fight tooth and nail to keep hold of the Spanish international.
Van Gaal has seen senior centre-backs Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones all struggle with form and fitness this season whilst Marcos Rojo has also struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
This has led to the Dutch boss throwing youngsters Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair in at the deep end.
Ramos is into his tenth season at Real Madrid and has been a crucial performer over the past 12 months and a move away from the reigning Champions League holders and La Liga table toppers does seem highly unlikely.
