The 21-year-old was given a fine and three points on his licence after being caught by police using his phone while driving in July. He has been told to pay £200 in a fine plus £85 as a statutory surcharge and £20 costs.

Arsene Wenger is thought to be interested in the full-back, and may make a £8 million bid for his services once the January transfer window is open. The defender would be perfect to help out with the Gunners’ current dearth of players at the back, although would not be able to add to their short list of centre-backs.

The youngster signed for Ipswich for £10,000 in 2012, and the Tractor boys have been looking for £10 million for his signing. Whether or not anyone will be willing to pay so much for the player is another matter. If he has troubles like this one often, then it will surely drive his potential fee down.
