Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists there is no need to panic after latest loss…

Reports in the Daily Express carry quotes from the Italian, who explained that his star man was rested, rather than dropped for tactical or personal reasons, and bemoaned Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema’s lack of finishing for the defeat.
Ronaldo came off the bench early in the second half but failed to spark Real into life as a Raul Garcia penalty and Jose Gimenez header secured Atletico victory, their second successive defeat after a 2-1 league loss to Valencia last weekend.
“Cristiano was tired and so did not start,” Ancelotti said. “We controlled the game until the penalty. We lacked depth and it is very difficult to play against Atletico, we needed to play more direct.
“It was difficult to look for opportunities and Benzema and Bale have tried, but did not succeed. Talk of crisis is exaggerated. We have a good chance of progressing in the tie and we will try with all our strength.”
Real face Atletico in the reverse fixture of this last-16 clash next week, and will likely name a full-strength team as they look to ensure their defence of a trophy they won last season does not come to a premature end.
