Arsenal To Fix Defensive Issues With £3m Bargain Signing Of Liverpool Target

Gunners lining up smart January transfer move.

Arsenal look set to rival Liverpool for the signing of £3m West Ham United centre-back Winston Reid after manager Sam Allardyce said the player has no future at the club, according to the Daily Star.

The 26-year-old is out of contract at Upton Park at the end of the season, and has attracted plenty of interest from top clubs after his fine form in the Hammers’ defence in recent times.

Reid now looks set to make the step up to a bigger club, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to have made the New Zealand international one of his top targets to shore up his side’s leaky backline this season.

Per Mertesacker has suffered a real dip in form this term, while the departure of Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona in the summer has left the Gunners woefully short of backup options in that position.

Reid now looks an ideal signing and could be available on the cheap as he would be a free agent in the summer.
