William Carvalho finally expected to make the move to the Emirates, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger two weeks away from signing the youngster…
Arsenal are hoping to finalise a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho in the next two weeks, with Arsene Wenger confident of bringing him to the Emirates, according to the Telegraph.
The 22-year-old was tipped to join the North London club last summer, but Arsene Wenger saw two bids for the Portuguese star rebuffed.
Arsenal are badly in need of a powerful defensive midfielder, and have been for a number of years now. That was not enough to see Wenger break his beliefs however, and the Frenchman refused to meet what he thought was an inflated asking price for the youngster.
The Gunners boss is reigniting his interest in Carvalho this January however, and expects to bring him to the club in the next two weeks for a reported £25m.
A deal over the summer was allegedly complicated by third party ownership of the player, an obstacle that has since been removed from the equation.
