Villa looking to sign Valencia man Carles Gil.
Aston Villa expect to complete the signing of playmaker Carles Gil from La Liga giants Valencia within the next 48 hours, report the Telegraph, as beleaguered manager Paul Lambert looks to add some creativity to his goal shy side, with Villa having scored the fewest Premier League goals so far this season.

Defeat to bottom side Leicester City after another insipid display, this time at the King Power Stadium in a game that represented a local derby of sorts, helped to turn Villa fans even further against Lambert as his side have struggled for goals all season.
The return of prolific striker Christian Benteke from injury and suspension had expected to be the catalyst for Villa to start scoring more goals, but that has not proven to be the case with the Belgian starved of service, a situation that Lambert is looking to remedy with the capture of Gil.
A creative playmaker with an eye for a pass, Gil has risen through the youth ranks at the Mestalla, but has only made eight senior appearances for Valencia, catching the eye during two years on loan with perennial La Liga strugglers Elche, for whom he was a consistently impressive performer.
