New Baggies manager Tony Pulis is apparently keen to sign the Scotland international on loan in order to help with the Midlands club’s battle against relegation.
The 30-year-old has been unable to make an impact at Old Trafford under new boss Louis van Gaal, making only four appearances so far during the current campaign.
The most recent was against Aston Villa on December 20 and he was recently replaced as vice-captain by Michael Carrick.
Pulis is also interested in Jonathan Walters, who he managed at former club Stoke City.
The 56-year-old is also meant to be keen on Blackburn Rovers forward Rudy Gestede.
West Brom are currently two points above the relegation zone, but won their first match under the former Crystal Palace coach against Hull City on Saturday with a 1-0 victory.
