The Merseyside outfit’s expanded main stand will generate £20m from the additional £8,500 seats and £5m from a naming rights sponsor according to chief executive Ian Ayre and would allow the club to spend without breaking UEFA’s FFP guidelines.

Liverpool spent big over the summer though their £116m outlay was covered to a great extent by the £83m made from the sales, with the club banking £75m from the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona alone.
