A name you wouldn’t really want to mention around the Emirates now following his move to Manchester United in 2012. However during his time in North London van Persie was lauded as one of the very best, but it didn’t start out that way.
Signed with a reputation as a supremely talented but troubled striker, Wenger paid just £2.5 million for the Dutchman. But with some of that typical magic, the French coach nurtured van Persie to be one of the deadliest forwards in the world who eventually nabbed 132 goals in 277 games for the Gunners.
