6) Marc Overmars
Overmars first season alone offers him near icon status with the Arsenal faithful after his winning goal at Old Trafford set the Gunners on their way to Arsene Wenger’s first double.
Although he never reached the heights of his premier Gunners campaign again, his blistering pace and cool finishing made him one of Arsenal’s most exciting and explosive players.
Despite not lasting a long time with the club before being sold to Barcelona, Overmars’ fee essentially allowed Arsenal to sign the likes of Pires, Wiltord and Lauren.
