Arsenal transfer news
The Basel star has been a long time target of Arsene Wenger’s, but it now appears as though he has missed his chance to snap him up.
Regarding his future, the Swiss international said: “I’ve read the market rumours, they’re normal at this time.
“I can say that without a doubt I think Inter are a top club, perfect. That would be an ideal destination.
“However, I have a contract which ties me to Basel and I’m very happy here. At the moment I’m not thinking about anything else.”
Schar is free to negotiate a new deal with another club outside of Switzerland as he has entered the final six month of his contract with Basel.
It is not likely that Arsenal will back down from the race for his signature without a fight, but Inter may be able to offer him significantly higher wages than the north London outfit.
