Arsenal transfer news
The 26-year-old has been linked with top clubs in the past after impressing at both Los Che and at previous club Porto, and is now on the Gunners’ radar as Arsene Wenger seeks to strengthen defensively this month.
Having sold Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona in the summer, Wenger’s side have been short of backup options to Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny – with the likes of Calum Chambers, Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy all playing out of position to fill in at centre-back at various points this season.
A whole host of names have been linked with the North Londoners as they look to bring a new defender in, and Otamendi is the latest contender.
The South American seems a useful target due to his ability to play right-back, where he could cover for the injured Debuchy.
