Could La Liga star Gabriel Paulista be heading to the Premier League?
Villarreal central defender Gabriel Paulista has claimed that his agent is currently in talks with Arsenal about the prospect of moving to the Emirates Stadium, report the Guardian, whilst the Brazilian has also indicated that it is his dream to secure a move to the Premier League.
The 24 year-old has been virtually ever present for a Villarreal team that have been unbeaten since November and are looking like contenders to challenge for the wide open final Champions League spot in La Liga, and he has settled into Spanish football superbly since joining from Brazilian outfit Vitoria in 2013.
Villarreal are no longer the top European team that they were in the early 2000s, however, and as one of La Liga’s traditionally smaller clubs, they have reverted to being an outfit accustomed to selling their best players in recent campaigns.
This is a trend that could continue with Gabriel, who discussed the potential move to Arsenal following his side’s La Liga victory over Athletic Bilbao this weekend:
“Whether I go to Arsenal or stay at Villarreal, I won’t lose my head. I’m very calm. My head is at Villarreal and I’m very focused. My agent is working on making sure I continue being calm.”
