Which Arsenal Ace Is Refusing New Contract…?

Coquelin wants to wait and see whether Arsene Wenger sees him as a first team regular.

Arsenal are being made to sweat about the future of midfielder Francis Coquelin after he decided to take his time over considering a new contract offer, report the Mirror, with the Frenchman keen to wait and find out whether manager Arsene Wenger sees him as a first team regular for the long term following a run in the starting XI recently.

Coquelin was particularly impressive last weekend as the Gunners overcame Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium to disrupt the reigning Premier League title holders’ bid for this year’s crown, with the former Freiburg and Charlton Athletic loanee adding a muscular and disciplined presence to a midfield that has often been criticised for lacking those attributes.

So impressive has Coquelin been since he returned from a loan spell in the Championship with Charlton that Arsenal have looked to secure his long term future by offering him a new contract, but the player himself is keen to keep his options open and will not be signing until it is clear that he is seen as a first team regular by the club.
