The 23 year-old is a highly rated member of a Lille defence that has been one of French football’s sturdiest over the last couple of seasons, whilst he is also member of a Senegal team who are hoping to do well at the tournament currently being held in Equatorial Guinea.

Souare was also thought to be a target of former Selhurst Park boss Neil Warnock, but it is current incumbent Alan Pardew who looks set to push a deal for the international over the line.

A new left back has been a priority for Palace during the January window with the club having been playing Joel Ward out of position in that role for much of the season, with a new man seen as important despite the former Portsmouth defender’s impressive performances whilst filling in.
