De Gea has been a star performer for United so far this season, after saving his side time after time, and his performances have given the Spaniard a world-class status.
Victor Valdes signed on a free transfer to Old Trafford this month, and there has been speculation that the former Barcelona stopper was brought in, not as a back-up to De Gea, but as a replacement with Spanish giants Madrid expected to come knocking.
Nevertheless, while the reports are yet to be confirmed, the official twitter account for Sport Mediaset has posted that the 24-year-old has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2020:
