The 23-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Eagles and becomes new manager Alan Pardew’s second-signing for the club in the transfer window.

Mutch only signed for the Hoops in the summer from Cardiff City for a rumoured fee of £6m, but has failed to make an impact since arriving, and boss Harry Redknapp gave the midfielder the go-ahead to leave the club this month.

The former Cardiff City player trained with his new team-mates Thursday morning, and could make his debut this Saturday against Everton in the league at Selhurst Park.
