The Brazilian has warned the Blues to avoid making the same mistake they made with Frank Lampard last summer, with the veteran midfielder allowed to leave the club and join Manchester City.
Luiz, who was quoted by the Daily Mirror, told reporters: “I played next to John for a long time. He is having another great season with Chelsea, maybe one of his best.
“I am sure there is no question about Chelsea renewing his contract for another season, with the way he is playing he has made it impossible for them not to.

“Players like John, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba have all done it before, they know what it takes. They will be a big influence on the younger players in the dressing room.”
