Redknapp resigned as the club’s manager on Tuesday, claiming that upcoming knee surgery would mean that he couldn’t carry on in the post to the best of his abilities. However, Chairman Tony Fernandes is thought to be keen to bring someone in with a long term, and not just able to keep them in the Premier League this season.

Sherwood is the favourite for the role, as he is keen for a new job after leaving Tottenham in the summer, while McLaren is currently enjoying a good tenure at Derby County, and Clement is a coach at Real Madrid, meaning that they are likely to be harder to entice to Loftus Road.

Despite this, chairman Tony Fernandes is still eager to talk to all three candidates before making a decision over who to appoint.
