Success Or Failure: Rating The Players Sold By Chelsea For More Than £10m In The Last Ten Years

Romelu Lukaku has struggled to justify his huge price tag so far this season…

Everton were so impressed with Romelu Lukaku last season, that they were convinced to pay Chelsea £28m for him during the summer. The Belgian scored 16 goals in all competitions last season, and is on track to match that tally this term – having already struck ten times.

However, the 21-year-old has suffered from failing to live up to expectations and match his lofty price tag. Everton fans will have been desperate to see the player push on and have a ‘world class’ season, but it’s just not happened, as the Daily Mirror explains.

You have to admire Chelsea, who have made a huge profit on a player who never even managed to score a goal for them. Over the last ten years, the Blues have sold ten players for £10m or more, and below we rate their success or failure since leaving Stamford Bridge:

Romelu Lukaku (Sold to Everton for £28m, 2014)

FAILURE – His goal-to-game ratio has fallen and his influence in a struggling side has failed to improve throughout a difficult campaign.
