Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has long been linked with a genuine interest in the South American forward and despite the recent good form shown by his current striking options the French manager may find it hard to resist making an offer for the former Napoli man.
The Uruguayan is likely to leave the Parc des Princes this summer having apparently grown unsettled in the French capital and upset at Laurent Blanc’s insistence on using him in a wide-attacking role.
Cavani is valued at £50m and though such a sum would constitute a club record signing for the North London outfit it’s worth noting that Arsenal have happily spent bid in recent transfer windows and could be ready to make a real statement of intent in the summer.
PSG may lose their Ligue 1 title this term and Cavani has netted just eight goals in 22 domestic league fixtures during the current campaign.
Olivier Giroud currently acts as Wenger’s first choice central striking weapon and the Arsenal manager may deem Cavani a significant improvement in that department.
