Pundit has spoken out.

Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage backed Jose Mourinho following the Chelsea manager’s comments regarding four key incidents that referee Martin Atkinson got wrong against Burnley.

In his post-match interview with the BBC, Mourinho said there were four key moments in the match that cost his side all three points: “Minutes 30, 33, 43 and 69. Don’t ask me more questions,” the 52-year-old was quoted by BBC Sport.

The Match of the Day pundits expressed their support for the comments of the Blues boss, and believes all four incidents should have seen Burnley punished:

“I think Martin Atkinson has had a terrible game today,” Shearer was quoted by the Daily Mail.

Speaking of the most controversial moment in the game at Stamford Bridge, Nemanja Matic’s sending off for Chelsea, the Premier League legend was sympathetic towards the Serbian international’s reaction:

“It’s a horrific tackle, it really is,” Shearer continued.

“It’s dangerous, it’s naughty. I understand that reaction. It’s not right but I understand it because he could have easily broken his leg there.”

“‘For that Matic will miss the cup final next week and that’s a disaster for him and for Chelsea. He (Barnes) doesn’t even get a yellow card.”

Robbie Savage also added that, “Ashley Barnes should’ve been booked in the first half and that should have been a straight red.”

“He’s lucky he’s not out for six, seven, eight months. Mourinho’s right today. They’ve been hard done by.”
